Our Dental Implant Solutions
Dental implants are an excellent replacement option for missing teeth. We can use implants to restore gaps caused by one missing tooth, multiple missing teeth, or even a full arch of teeth. Due to their longevity and easy upkeep, dental implants are a cost-effective way to restore your smile.
What are Dental Implants?
A dental implant is a prosthetic tooth replacement that looks and feels like your natural teeth. Dr. Eggleston will surgically place it in your mouth to create a sturdy bond that goes unmatched by dentures or any other type of restoration. Unlike dentures, their outstanding stability means dental implants won’t shift around in your mouth while you’re talking or eating.
Your dental implant is composed of three parts—the fixture, which secures the implant to your jawbone, the abutment, which connects the fixture to the restoration, and the permanent porcelain crown restoration, which is placed on top of the abutment.
While these three pieces make up your dental implant, your friends and family will only see the porcelain crown, which is crafted to blend seamlessly with your smile.
The Dental Implant Process
Your free consultation with Dr. Eggleston is the first step on your path toward a beautiful new smile. Your consultation is an excellent time to ask questions about dental implants and to determine if you’re a good candidate.
If Dr. Eggleston believes dental implants are the ideal treatment for your smile, then we’ll begin the implant process. The first step in the process involves placing the implant fixture. This minimally-invasive procedure is completed by Dr. Eggleston, where he attaches the implant fixture to your jawbone.
The implant fixture, which holds the implant in place, is crafted from a durable, stainless material called titanium. Through a process called osseointegration, your jawbone creates a firm bond with the fixture, serving as a stable platform for the rest of your implant.
Your mouth will need some time to adjust to the implant fixture, but once your jawbone is fully acclimated, Dr. Eggleston will place your stunning porcelain crown.
In some instances, a patient might require one or more supplemental treatments to prepare their mouths for the implant process. Dr. Eggleston will inform you if he recommends any additional procedures during your free consultation.
Full-Arch Restorations with All-On-4®
For patients who are missing most or all of their teeth, we provide a full-arch restoration option from All-on-4. This exceptional treatment uses four dental implants to support a natural-looking full-arch prosthetic.
All-on-4 gives patients the opportunity to leave our office after one visit with a functional temporary prosthetic. After your body completes a brief adjustment period to the implant, Dr. Eggleston will place your permanent smile restoration.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the life-span of a dental implant?
While the life-span of a dental implant is longer than other tooth-replacement option, its longevity mostly depends on how you care for it. Dental implants are immune to cavities and other oral diseases, but the rest of your mouth is not. If you don’t properly care for your smile, you may develop gum disease or conditions that might require the removal of your implant. However, if you practice healthy oral hygiene habits, your implant could last for more than 25 years.
What is the proper way to care for dental implants?
The best way to avoid infection and dental implant failure is to keep your mouth clean. This means cleaning your mouth thoroughly after each meal and before you go to sleep, beginning the day after your procedure. At Eggleston Dental Care, we recommend using a soft-bristled toothbrush, nylon-coated floss, and toothpaste that contains non-abrasive ingredients to ensure that you don’t accidentally scratch the implant or irritate the oral structures that support it.
